Excel & CSV Integration — Automate the Spreadsheet Workflows
Stop manually importing CSVs, assembling reports from multiple sources and emailing spreadsheets around. We automate the Excel workflows that eat your team's time.
Perth-based. Australia-wide. We speak spreadsheet fluently.
Excel Is Not the Problem. The Manual Workflow Is.
Every business runs on spreadsheets. Price lists arrive as Excel files. Reports need to be in Excel format. Your team thinks in rows and columns. That's fine — Excel is genuinely useful.
The problem is the manual work around it. Exporting CSVs every morning. Reformatting files for import. Assembling reports from six different sources. Emailing files back and forth. Fixing broken formulas. That's what we automate.
HELLO PEOPLE is a Perth-based software consultancy. We automate the Excel and CSV workflows that waste your team's time, and connect spreadsheet-based processes to your accounting, CRM and business systems.
The spreadsheet workflows that cost you hours
If someone in your business spends their morning wrangling CSVs, these will hit close to home.
The spreadsheet IS the system
You have proper software — Xero, a CRM, a project management tool. But the real operating system is a collection of Excel files. Price lists, order trackers, job schedules, client records. Shared on OneDrive, emailed around, version-confused.
Manual CSV exports every morning
Someone exports a CSV from the accounting software or CRM, opens it in Excel, reformats the columns, adds calculated fields, and emails it to the team. Every. Single. Day.
Version control is "Final_v3_REAL_FINAL.xlsx"
Multiple people editing. Multiple copies floating around. Someone overwrites someone else's changes. Nobody is entirely sure which version is current. Classic spreadsheet chaos.
Broken formulas that nobody notices
Someone deletes a row. A formula references a cell that no longer exists. The number it shows looks plausible so nobody catches the error. Business decisions made on wrong data.
Importing data into software is painful
Your accounting or inventory software accepts CSV imports. But the file has to be in exactly the right format. Wrong column order, wrong date format, wrong delimiter — import fails. Someone spends an hour formatting it.
Reporting assembled from multiple spreadsheets
The monthly report pulls data from six different Excel files. Someone spends a day copying, pasting, reformatting and checking. The report is always late and sometimes wrong.

Excel & CSV Automation Solutions
Import, export, consolidation, migration — here are the most common spreadsheet automation projects we deliver.
Automated Excel/CSV import
Files dropped in a folder, emailed to an inbox, or uploaded to a portal get picked up, validated, transformed and imported into your software automatically.
Column mapping, date format conversion, data validation, duplicate detection and error handling — all configured for your specific file formats and target systems.
For businesses that receive data files from suppliers, customers or partners and currently import them manually.
Automated report generation and distribution
Scheduled reports generated from your business systems in Excel format — with proper formatting, multiple tabs, formulas, charts and conditional formatting.
Emailed to the right people on the right schedule. Or saved to SharePoint, OneDrive or a shared folder. No manual assembly required.
For businesses where someone spends hours assembling Excel reports from multiple data sources.
Supplier price list processing
Suppliers send price lists in Excel — different formats, different layouts, sometimes different file types. We build a processor that reads them all, maps them to your product catalogue and updates pricing in your ERP, eCommerce or inventory system.
Price change detection, margin calculation, approval workflow and bulk update — automated end to end.
For wholesale, retail and manufacturing businesses that manage pricing from multiple suppliers.
Excel-to-database pipeline
Replace the spreadsheet as the master record. Data from Excel files flows into a proper database with validation, relationships and audit trails. The spreadsheet becomes an input mechanism, not the system of record.
For businesses that have outgrown spreadsheet-based processes but need the transition to be gradual.
Historical data migrated. New data flows through the pipeline. Your team keeps using Excel for input if they want to.
Multi-source report consolidation
Data from Xero, your CRM, your project management tool and your inventory system — pulled together into a consolidated Excel report or dashboard. One file, one view, always current.
Monthly board reports, weekly sales reviews, daily operations summaries — assembled automatically from live data.
For management teams that need cross-system reporting without logging into five different platforms.
Spreadsheet to proper software migration
When the spreadsheet has truly become the system and it's time to move to a proper application — CRM, inventory management, project management or a custom solution. We migrate the data and the workflow.
Every row becomes a record. Every calculated column becomes a business rule. The logic in the spreadsheet preserved in a system that scales.
For businesses that have outgrown Excel and need to move without losing years of data and institutional knowledge.
Excel and CSV files imported automatically
Drop a file in a folder, email it to an inbox, or upload it to a portal — the data gets picked up, validated and imported into your software automatically. No manual formatting, no column reordering, no failed imports.
File format rules applied consistently every time. Errors caught and flagged before they reach your system.
Reports generated and distributed automatically
That daily export someone does manually? Automated. The weekly management report assembled from multiple sources? Generated and emailed at 7am without anyone touching it.
Excel files with the right formatting, the right tabs, the right formulas — produced by the integration and delivered on schedule.
How we price spreadsheet automation
Depends on the number of file formats, target systems and complexity of the transformation.

Why HELLO PEOPLE for integrations
We build, not just connect
We write proper integration code — API connections, data mapping, error handling, logging. Not Zapier chains that break quietly.
Fixed-price quoting
You get a clear price before we start. No hourly billing that spirals. No surprise invoices at the end of the month.
Built for Australian business
We understand BAS, GST, super, award rates, Australian privacy law, and the platforms local businesses actually use.
Senior team, direct access
You talk to the people building your integration. No account managers, no offshore handoffs, no ticket queues.
Ongoing support included
APIs change. Platforms update. We monitor, maintain, and evolve your integration so it keeps working as your business grows.
We had three people spending two hours a day on CSV exports and Excel formatting. Now it happens automatically. The files land in the right systems, the reports generate themselves, and the team focuses on actual work. We should have done this years ago.
Excel automation by sector
Every industry runs on spreadsheets. The integration just removes the manual steps.
Wholesale & Distribution
Supplier price lists, customer order forms, inventory counts and shipping manifests — all arriving as Excel or CSV. We automate the import into your ERP and inventory system.
Finance & Accounting
Bank statement imports, journal uploads, budget templates and management reports. We automate the Excel workflows that finance teams run every day and month-end.
Manufacturing
Bill of materials, production schedules, quality inspection reports and supplier data sheets. We connect the Excel workflows to your MRP, ERP and quality management systems.
Real Estate & Property
Rent rolls, property valuations, settlement schedules and tenant reports. We automate the spreadsheet workflows that property managers and agents run weekly.
Retail & eCommerce
Product catalogues, inventory uploads, pricing updates and sales reports. We connect the Excel files to Shopify, BigCommerce, your POS and inventory management.
Not-for-Profits
Grant acquittals, donor reports, program data and government reporting templates. We automate the data collection and assembly so your team focuses on mission, not spreadsheets.
Common questions about Excel and CSV automation
Can you automate our daily CSV export from Xero?
Yes. We connect directly to the Xero API and pull the data you need — no manual export required. It can land in an Excel file, flow to another system, or both. The same approach works for MYOB, Salesforce, Shopify and other platforms with APIs.
We receive supplier files in different formats. Can one system handle them all?
Yes. We build format-specific parsers for each supplier. When a new supplier sends a file in a format we haven't seen, we add a parser. The system detects the format and routes it to the right processor automatically.
How much does Excel automation cost?
A simple import or export automation typically costs $3,000 to $8,000. Multi-format supplier import pipelines run $8,000 to $18,000. Full spreadsheet-to-application migration ranges from $15,000 to $50,000+. All fixed-price after scoping.
Can you replace our spreadsheet with a proper system?
Yes. When the spreadsheet has become the system of record and it's causing problems, we migrate the data and workflow to a proper application — custom-built or a suitable off-the-shelf platform. We keep the transition gradual so your team adapts comfortably.
Our team really likes Excel. Do they have to give it up?
No. Excel is great for analysis, ad-hoc work and flexible data manipulation. The integration just removes it from being the bottleneck. Data flows in and out of Excel automatically. Your team keeps using it for what it's good at.
Can you handle large Excel files?
Yes. Files with hundreds of thousands of rows, multiple sheets, complex formulas and heavy formatting. We optimise the processing for files that would crash a normal Excel session.
What about Google Sheets?
Same approach. Google Sheets, Excel, CSV, TSV — the integration handles whatever file format your business uses. Google Sheets can also be connected via the Sheets API for real-time data flow.
How long does an Excel automation project take?
A single import or export workflow takes 2 to 4 weeks. Multi-format pipelines take 4 to 8 weeks. Full spreadsheet replacement projects take 8 to 16 weeks depending on complexity.
