Real outcomes, by solving the real problems that sink Xero to NetSuite moves.
- Audit Trail SecuredXero cannot produce the consolidated audit trail, approval workflows, or segment-level reporting that your board, PE backer, or CFO now requires at scale.
- History ReconciledYears of GL, open AR/AP, customer and supplier masters, and inventory values risk being mis-mapped or lost in a rushed cutover from Xero to NetSuite.
- Multi-Entity ReadyManaging multiple subsidiaries or currencies in separate Xero organisations means manual consolidation spreadsheets every single month-end.
- App Stack Re-PlumbedStripe, Shopify, WorkflowMax, Deputy, Cin7, and every other Xero app must be re-scoped and rebuilt against NetSuite's SuiteScript and REST APIs before go-live.
- Payroll ContinuitySuitePeople is built for the US market; Australian payroll must be re-scoped to KeyPay or Employment Hero with STP continuity preserved across the cutover boundary.
Six things we get right in every Xero to NetSuite migration
From restructuring your chart of accounts into NetSuite segments through to rebuilding every Xero app integration in SuiteScript and scoping a compliant Australian payroll platform. All covered in a single fixed-price project.
-
Chart of Accounts & Segments
Xero's flat chart of accounts is restructured into NetSuite's multi-dimensional classification system — Segments, Classes, Departments, and Locations — giving your finance team the slice-and-dice reporting Xero cannot deliver. GST and BAS tax codes are mapped to NetSuite's Australian tax engine so your compliance obligations are met from day one.
- Segments · Classes · Departments · Locations
- GST / BAS tax codes mapped
- Multi-subsidiary consolidation scoped
-
Historical Data & Reconciliation
Trial balance, open AR, open AP, and inventory values are loaded from Xero and reconciled to the cent before cutover is approved. Customer and supplier masters are cleaned and de-duplicated. Item masters are migrated with correct costing layers — average, FIFO, or standard cost — translated into NetSuite's valuation model.
- Trial balance · AR · AP tie-out
- Customer · supplier · item masters
- Costing layer translation (FIFO / avg / std)
-
Australian Payroll Scoping
SuitePeople is built for the US market and is not a fit for Australian payroll obligations. We scope KeyPay (Employment Hero) or a comparable Australian-compliant platform alongside the NetSuite project, preserving year-to-date payroll figures and STP reporting continuity across the cutover boundary so no pay run is missed.
- KeyPay / Employment Hero scoped
- YTD figures · STP continuity
- Clean pay-period cutover boundary
-
Xero App Ecosystem Rebuild
Every tool currently talking to Xero — Stripe, Shopify or other ecommerce, WorkflowMax, Deputy, Cin7, Unleashed, bank feeds, CRM, and third-party BI connectors — is audited and rebuilt using SuiteScript 2.x and NetSuite's REST / SOAP APIs. Custom Xero reports are recreated as NetSuite Saved Searches and SuiteAnalytics Workbooks.
- SuiteScript 2.x · REST · SOAP rebuild
- Saved Searches · SuiteAnalytics Workbooks
- Stripe · Shopify · Cin7 · Deputy reconnected
-
Order-to-Cash & SuiteCommerce
Businesses moving to NetSuite for its full order-to-cash cycle or SuiteCommerce storefront have the entire revenue flow scoped: quote-to-order, fulfilment, invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition. Xero sales history, inventory, and pricing are migrated into the NetSuite transaction model so nothing is left behind.
- Quote-to-order · fulfilment · AR
- Revenue recognition · SuiteCommerce
- Sales history · pricing migrated
-
SuiteProjects / PSA & User Training
Professional-services and PE-backed businesses moving for SuiteProjects (SRP) have project templates, resource plans, and WIP values scoped and loaded. User training is delivered as part of cutover — change management is real when users move off Xero's clean UX to NetSuite's enterprise interface, and hands-on walkthroughs reduce post-go-live support calls significantly.
- SuiteProjects · resource plans · WIP
- PE-backed standardisation scoped
- User training · change management
A Xero to NetSuite migration, end to end

Weeks 1–N
Migration Build & Parallel Run
Xero data extracted and loaded into NetSuite in stages — chart of accounts, masters, historical transactions, open AR/AP, inventory. Your team runs both systems side-by-side while numbers are reconciled against live Xero. Integrations rebuilt in SuiteScript before cutover is approved. No surprise gaps after go-live.
-
Cutover
Live Cutover & Hypercare
Cutover on a planned end-of-month or end-of-quarter boundary so BAS and STP stay clean. Payroll STP continuity verified. Xero remains accessible for one financial year as a read-only audit reference. 30 days post-cutover hypercare included. SuiteScript source code, mapping documents, and reconciliation reports are all yours.
Before you book the scoping call
What versions of Xero does this migration cover?
All Xero editions used by Australian businesses — standard Xero organisations (the cloud accounting product used by the vast majority of Australian SMBs), Xero Payroll, and Xero connected via third-party apps such as Cin7, WorkflowMax, or Unleashed. The scoping call identifies your Xero stack and sizes the extraction and mapping effort accordingly.
How much Xero history can we bring across to NetSuite?
In principle, all of it — GL transactions, AR/AP detail, customer and supplier records, inventory, sales orders. In practice we recommend migrating the last 2–7 years as live transactions and archiving older data as exports. The ATO requires 5 years of records; we always migrate enough to satisfy that requirement and the next audit. Opening balances are loaded for any years not fully transacted.
What is the NetSuite segment and classification structure, and why does it matter?
NetSuite replaces a simple chart of accounts with a multi-dimensional classification model: Segments, Classes, Departments, and Locations. A single transaction can be tagged across multiple dimensions simultaneously, giving you the consolidated, slice-and-dice reporting that Xero cannot produce. The migration maps your existing Xero account codes into this structure — a process that requires careful design up front to avoid rebuilding it later.
We run multiple Xero organisations. How does NetSuite handle that?
Multi-subsidiary consolidation is one of NetSuite's core strengths. Each Xero organisation becomes a separate subsidiary in a single NetSuite account with a shared chart of accounts and intercompany eliminations handled automatically. MYOB or Xero data from each organisation is migrated into the corresponding subsidiary with its own currency, tax, and reporting settings. Month-end consolidation that currently takes days of manual spreadsheet work typically becomes a one-click process in NetSuite.
Why can't we use SuitePeople for Australian payroll?
SuitePeople is Oracle's payroll module and it is built for the US market — it does not support Australian award interpretation, STP Phase 2 reporting, or the superannuation rules that Australian businesses are legally required to comply with. We scope a compliant Australian payroll platform alongside the NetSuite project, most commonly KeyPay (now part of Employment Hero), and integrate it into NetSuite via the REST API so payroll data flows automatically without double-entry.
What about our existing Xero integrations — Shopify, Cin7, Stripe, bank feeds?
Every integration currently connected to Xero is inventoried in the scoping audit. Each one is rebuilt for NetSuite using SuiteScript 2.x and the NetSuite REST or SOAP APIs. Custom Xero reports and exports are recreated as NetSuite Saved Searches or SuiteAnalytics Workbooks. We do not declare the migration complete until every integration is live and reconciling correctly in the new environment.
Our business is PE-backed and we have been told to standardise on NetSuite. What does that mean for scope?
PE-backed mandates typically mean faster timelines and stricter reporting requirements. NetSuite's multi-subsidiary consolidation, role-based access controls, approval workflows, and audit trail are usually the capabilities driving the mandate. We have delivered migrations under PE timelines before — the scoping call covers the specific reporting package your board or PE sponsor requires and we scope accordingly.
Do we own the migration scripts and SuiteScript code?
Yes. All migration scripts, SuiteScript source code, reconciliation reports, and data-mapping documents live in your GitHub repository from day one. Xero remains accessible for one financial year as a read-only audit reference. After project close there is no ongoing licence or retainer to us — you have everything you need to maintain and extend the integration yourselves or with any NetSuite partner.
