What we deliver

Six Reckon Accounts migration capabilities

From the first Reckon data extract through reconciliation against your last EOFY, to the cutover landed on a clean financial boundary with field-operations and mining-module configuration validated by your domain users — built so your finance and operations teams trust the new system from day one.

  • Reckon → Business Central

The most capable ERP-grade target for Reckon customers who need more than accounting. Dynamics 365 Business Central covers financials, inventory, field-service and manufacturing natively. Reckon chart of accounts migrated to BC dimensions, AR/AP open items and payment history preserved, BAS history reconciled. Microsoft ecosystem, lower TCO than full Epicor or SAP.

    • Reckon COA → BC dimensions
    • AR / AP history & open items
    • BC Field Service for field-ops workloads
  • Reckon → NetSuite

The consolidation path when the parent group is already on NetSuite OneWorld or wants full cloud-ERP independence. Multi-subsidiary, multi-currency, advanced manufacturing and mining-sector workflows map to NetSuite natively. Reckon customisations and report layouts rebuilt as SuiteScript or SuiteAnalytics. BAS and STP continuity confirmed before cutover.

    • Multi-subsidiary NetSuite OneWorld
    • Advanced manufacturing & mining modules
    • Reckon custom reports → SuiteAnalytics
  • Reckon → MYOB

The most natural lateral move for AU SMBs wanting a modern cloud accounting platform without the ERP overhead. Reckon chart of accounts, customer and supplier master records, open AR/AP and payroll history all migrate to MYOB AccountRight or MYOB Business. BAS lodgements continue uninterrupted. Inventory handled via Cin7 or Unleashed if needed.

    • COA · customers · suppliers migrated
    • Payroll history & BAS records preserved
    • Inventory connected via Cin7 or Unleashed
  • Reckon → Xero

The right-size path when Reckon is over-scoped and the business just needs clean cloud accounting. Chart of accounts, contacts, bank transaction history and open invoices migrate to Xero. Payroll moves to Xero Payroll or a connected system. Xero ecosystem apps (Hubdoc, Dext, Receipt Bank) handle the document layer Reckon never managed well.

    • COA · contacts · open invoices
    • Payroll → Xero Payroll or Keypay
    • Xero ecosystem apps configured
  • Data Migration & Reconciliation

Every Reckon data domain extracted with row-by-row reconciliation. Chart of accounts, AR/AP detail, customer and supplier master records, inventory items, payroll history, BAS history, journal and GL transactions. Numbers reconciled against your last Reckon EOFY before sign-off. ATO five-year record requirement met.

    • GL · AR · AP · payroll · BAS history
    • Customer & supplier master records
    • Reconciled to last Reckon EOFY
  • Field Operations & Mining Migration

Mining, field-service, equipment maintenance and utilities workflows are the trickiest part of leaving Reckon. We map field-ops configuration to Business Central Field Service or NetSuite Field Service Management, preserving job history, asset register, work-order templates and scheduling rules. Reckon does not own these modules natively so the mapping is always bespoke.

    • Mining & field-service job history
    • Asset register & work-order templates
    • Scheduling rules re-configured in target
How it runs

A Reckon Accounts migration project, end to end

Three stages. Parallel-run with daily reconciliation against live Reckon. Cutover on a financial-year or quarter boundary. Reckon stays read-only as a safety net. Delivered personally by the founder.

  1. Week 0

    Reckon Audit & Scope

15-minute scoping call. We map the Reckon Accounts version and edition (Hosted, One, Desktop, Enterprise), modules in use, data volume and age, integration touch-points, target system thinking and industry vertical requirements. Fixed-price quote inside 48 hours.

  2. Weeks 1–N

    Build & Parallel-Run

Two-week sprints with weekly demos. Migration scripts extract from Reckon (data, configuration, report layouts); target system configured in parallel. Payroll, BAS and inventory reconciliation reports each sprint. Field-ops and mining module configurations validated by domain users.

  3. Cutover

    End-of-Quarter Cutover

Cutover landed on a clean financial boundary (end-of-month / end-of-quarter / EOFY). Reckon stays read-only for one financial year as audit safety. STP, BAS and payroll reporting continuity tested. 30 days post-cutover support included.

Common questions

Before you book the scoping call

How long does a Reckon Accounts migration take?

A right-sized Reckon → Xero or MYOB migration (single entity, no field-ops) typically runs 6–12 weeks. A Reckon → Business Central or NetSuite migration with field-ops, mining modules and several integrations runs 4–8 months. Multi-entity migrations with heavy payroll and BAS history can extend to 9–15 months. Cutover always lands on a financial-year or quarter boundary so reporting stays clean.

Should we migrate Reckon to Business Central, NetSuite, MYOB or Xero?

Depends on size, sector and ecosystem. Business Central is right when you need field-service, manufacturing or inventory modules natively and want to stay in the Microsoft ecosystem. NetSuite is the consolidation play when the parent group is already there or you need multi-subsidiary, multi-currency at group level. MYOB suits AU SMBs who want to stay in a local payroll and BAS ecosystem. Xero is the right-size path when Reckon was over-scoped. The scoping call covers all options honestly — we do not get paid more to recommend any one.

What Reckon data can you migrate?

All of it in principle: chart of accounts, customer and supplier master records, open and historical AR/AP, inventory items and quantities, payroll history (including STP year-to-date records), BAS history, general ledger transactions and journal entries. In practice we confirm which years need to be queryable in the new system versus archived — the ATO requires five years. Data is reconciled row-by-row before cutover.

Will our BAS and payroll history survive the migration?

Yes. BAS lodgements, activity statement history and payroll year-to-date records are treated as first-class migration objects — not afterthoughts. We reconcile BAS and payroll totals against your Reckon reports before sign-off. STP Phase 2 compliance is confirmed in the target system before Reckon is switched to read-only.

We are in mining — can you handle Reckon field operations workflows?

Yes. Reckon does not own mature field-ops modules natively, which means the migration mapping is always bespoke. We map your Reckon job-costing and field-service workflows to Business Central Field Service or NetSuite Field Service Management. Mining-sector workflows including shift-costing, equipment register and production reporting are re-implemented in the target system using native features or configured extensions. Job history and asset register are migrated, not dropped.

Can you migrate Reckon Accounts Hosted specifically?

Yes. Reckon Accounts Hosted is the cloud-hosted variant of the legacy QuickBooks-lineage desktop product. The data export path is the same as desktop — IIF and QBB export formats — and we handle all three (Hosted, Desktop, Enterprise). The key difference with Hosted is that you may have additional SaaS integrations to re-point after cutover; we map those in the scoping session.

Do we own the migration code after the project?

Yes — migration scripts, reconciliation reports, target-system configurations, custom extensions and deployment scripts are all yours in your GitHub or Azure DevOps from day one. Reckon stays installed read-only for one financial year as audit safety — the auditor can still pull source data when needed. After that, exported archives are kept indefinitely.

What does fixed-price mean for a migration this complex?

Fixed-price means a firm number you approve before any data is touched — not a time-and-materials estimate that blows out. It is based on a 15-minute scoping call and a short discovery session where we confirm Reckon version, module list, data volume, integration touch-points and industry vertical requirements. Scope is documented and signed off. Change control applies only if the scope genuinely changes, not because the project took longer than our estimate.
