Before you book the scoping call
How much does a BigCommerce integration cost?
Fixed-price after a 15-minute scoping call and a short discovery session. A focused two-system integration (BigCommerce ↔ Xero or MYOB with order + customer + payment sync) takes 3–6 weeks. A multi-system integration (BigCommerce ↔ NetSuite or Dynamics 365 BC with full ERP-grade flows + B2B Edition + multi-warehouse) takes 6–14 weeks. You know the price before any code is written.
How long does it take to build?
Simple two-system one-way sync: 2–4 weeks. Standard two-way sync with order + customer + payment + refund flows: 4–6 weeks. Multi-system integration with B2B Edition, multi-store and ERP workflow: 6–14 weeks. Enterprise composable commerce build with headless storefront + integrations: 4–8 months.
BigCommerce v2 API or v3 API?
v3 by default — that's where BigCommerce is investing. We use v2 only where v3 doesn't cover (some legacy endpoints, certain webhook payload shapes). Many off-the-shelf connectors are still on v2 and miss newer features (modifiers, variants, B2B Edition entities) — custom integration uses the right API for the right call.
How is this different from Stitch, Celigo, Webgility or DEAR/Cin7 connectors?
Those are great for stores with standard flows and standard tax setups. Custom is right when (a) per-order / per-month connector fees are climbing painfully with growth, (b) your custom fields, option sets or B2B workflows don't map cleanly to their template, (c) you need true two-way sync with conflict resolution, or (d) you want to own the integration. We'll honestly say if Stitch / Celigo fits your case.
Does it handle BigCommerce B2B Edition and multi-store setups?
Yes. B2B Edition quote workflows, company hierarchies, sales rep assignments and price-list-by-company-tier all integrate end-to-end with HubSpot / Salesforce / NetSuite. Multi-store setups (multiple channels, currencies, regions) share a single back-office integration with per-channel rules where needed.
What about custom fields, options and category structures?
Mapped properly. Standard issue with off-the-shelf connectors is they ignore everything beyond title/SKU/price. We map custom product fields, option sets, modifiers, category hierarchy and customer attribute groups to the target system's structure — and tell you in discovery if the target system can't represent something so the right trade-off is made early.
How do you handle webhook reliability and API rate limits?
BigCommerce's webhook system is reasonable but not perfect. We register webhooks defensively, store them durably, and reconcile nightly against the API in case a webhook was missed. Rate-limit-aware throttling (we read BigCommerce's X-Rate-Limit headers), exponential backoff, and a dead-letter queue for anything that fails 3 times.
Do we own the code? What about ongoing maintenance?
Yes. Source code, webhook config, deployment scripts, monitoring config — all yours in your GitHub or Azure DevOps from day one. No per-order or per-month integration SaaS subscription to us. Ongoing maintenance is month-to-month — never locked-in. Hosting is yours.
